This Week's Gigs
Monday 31st: Fucked Up at the Scala Dig out your Halloween costume for this one. Fucked Up bring their annual Halloween party to London and there are prizes for the best dressed too. No tricks here, just treats. Tuesday: Anna Calvi at Shepherd’s Bush Empire Anna Calvi blew us away earlier in the year in Shepherd’s Bush, again at Field Day and we reckon she will make it a...
Video: King Krule - Out Getting Ribs
The King Krule/Zoo Kid project has been quite slow burn - surprising when you consider the tender age, but looking back at ‘Out Getting Ribs’ from earlier this year it still packs the same punch. The EP is brilliant and really unique in the UK at the moment.

Thanks to our friends The Line of Best Fit for announcing our competition yesterday. Here’s how they eloquently explained the comp and how to enter on our FACEBOOK: In the spirit of good will and togetherness our buddies over at Eat Your Own Ears want you to tell a friend / potential life partner / family member / stranger about a gig you’d like to take them to this Autumn. All you need...
New Sounds: Eagulls + Dauwd
Eagulls These guys aren’t exactly brand new but we wanted to spotlight them ahead of their show with Fucked Up next week anyway because they are hitting a stride at the moment and well worth checking out live. For now, listen to ‘Possessed’: Possessed by eagulls Dauwd Producer Dauwd (pictured, above) has been blowing up slowly for a few months too. The penny is dropping...
This Week's Gigs
Good Monday morning to you. Welcome to another regular EYOE feature on the blog where we take a look at the gigs we have coming up this week. This week’s these is ‘sold out’ as happily (or unhappily for those who missed out) all of our shows this week are sold out. We’re still going to take a look and get excited though. Those of you looking for our next shows with...
Duologue Mix for Eat Your Own Ears
Those fine people in Duologue have made us a mix ahead of their two shows with us over the next couple of months. One of those is the 3rd of November (with Throwing Snow) and one on the 8th of December with Patten. Details on the website. But for now, check out this excellent mix they have made for us (helping us get through Friday). It features everything from Bon Iver, Zomby and EYOE faves...
Listen: Foe - Deep Water Heartbreaker
Foe is a bit of a new favourite for Eat Your Own Ears and we’re expecting good things from her tonight at the Victoria in Dalston. Get in the mood below. Deep Water Heartbreaker by FOE
Mix: Architecture in Helsinki
Amazing short mix from Architecture in Helsinki. Anybody at a loose listening end this afternoon, here you go… ‘Home / Not Home’ Mix by Architecture In Helsinki
New Sounds: Weird Dreams and Pandr Eyez
Weird Dreams Weird Dreams might just be the UK’s answer to Girls. Full of longing, sweet songs that pack a punch, these guys stand out from London’s other lo-fi, slightly shoegaze groups at the moment. See them with Stephen Malkmus next month. Hypnagogic Lullaby by Weird Dreams Pandr Eyez If R&B’s filtration into other genres has been this year’s defining...
Video: Aidan Moffat and Bill Wells - The Copper...
Want Aidan and Bill to organise your big send off? Enquire within. Those of us in the realm of the living would do well to pay them a visit at Cargo this Wednesday. Still a few tickets remain.
Video: Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks 'Senator'
Llamas, Jack Black and the most memorable chorus of the year for one reason or another. Of course it’s the new Stephen Malkmus video.
New sounds: Elephant and Au Palais
Elephant Big name for a duo who make sweet, soft sounds. Check out ‘Assembly’, which reminds us of The XX and The Cardigans in very good ways. Assembly by Elephant Au Palais ...
Watch: Architecture in Helsinki go literal
Off The Record: Architecture in Helsinki - W.O.W from Off The Record on Vimeo. Check out this rather literal live video from Architecture in Helsinki. Very nice stuff.
Watch: Zulu Winter's debut video
Loving this first foray into the visual form by recent Eat Your Own Ears favourites Zulu Winter. Lovely stuff and a quite epic piece of music too.
Win a pair of Foe tickets
Watch: The Horrors on Jools
The Horrors cap off an amazing few months with a seriously good performance on Jools last night. Take a look at ‘I Can See Through You’ above. As well as playing a long sold out show for us tonight at The Roundhouse they also curated an amazing line up for the Warehouse project with us for the weekend.
Gruff Rhys on Lauren Laverne (Listen Again)
Gruff Rhys had a star turn on Lauren Laverne’s show earlier today talking about the tour and his new EP/App Whale Trail as well as playing live. As ever Gruff was hilarious - probably one of our favourite bits of radio of the year. Listen Again Here (1:40 onwards)
Watch: Gruff Rhys - Sensations in the Dark (Live)
Love this live clip of Gruff playing ‘Sensations in the Dark’ on Channel 4’s CTRL programme earlier in the year. Outside of Jools it’s not often you see quality live music on television (apart from the annual Glastonbury splurge, and Rockfeedback’s excellent fest coverage this year) so this one is a bit of a treat. We are looking forward to seeing Gruff in all his...
New sounds: Patten + Cities Aviv
PATTEN Patten just released his debut EP on No Pain in Pop. That EP comes with the copy/paste friendly title: GLAQJO XAACSSO and is chock full of mutant electronic beats and glacial synths. He plays for us tomorrow night as part of Arthur Beatrice’s Open Assembly show. Fire dream by NO PAIN IN POP Cities Aviv Mr. Aviv (pictured) has been gathering steam on the other side of the...
Remix: Shit Robot x Planningtorock
Planningtorock is definitely keeping busy. A free EP last week and now a remix of Shit Robot. Factor that in with the London date tommorow night and this gal is keeping us pretty busy. It’s perfect Autumnal music with a bit of icy cool to it that is working just fine on this Monday morning. Stream it below: Shit Robot - Answering Machine (Planningtorock Pizzo Remix) by DFA Records
Gruff Rhys on Whale Trail
We blogged some details of Gruff Rhys’ upcoming multimedia experience and the man himself fills in some blank spots in this short video! The show at Shepherd’s Bush Empire looks like being a special occassion, capping off a great year for the man.
Listen: Planningtorock Bonus EP (Via Abeano)
Doorway (Bonus EP) by planningtorock An early weekend treat in the form of a brand new set of songs from Planningtorock. The bonus EP comes ahead of her show for us next week which we are terribly excited about. Support from Creep and Romy XX at that date.
Listen: King Krule - The Noose of Jah City
We are big fans of this great new song from King Krule. Take a listen above as we anticipate seeing him live in London soon.
Bert Jansch R.I.P.
Hugely sad news about legend Bert Jansch yesterday. We’ve been remembering him through his music all day yesterday and today. Join in with this terrific video.
New bands: NZCA/LINES + DJ JD SPORTS
NZCA/LINES NZCA/LINES is London’s newest smoothie, laying down some great pop/R&B hooks over the top of a Charlie Alex March production. Check out ‘Compass Points’ above and await the next pop smash along with the rest of us. DJ JD SPORTS A new, and slightly bonkers side-project from King Krule (formerly Zoo Kid) he is clearly having some fun with this, lots of strange...
Video: Metronomy - Everything Goes My Way
One of our favourite of the new Metronomy songs gets an autumnal video complete with a herd of deer. This one looks like it was also filmed in Devon, but far away from the fake-Miami Torbay of the video for ‘The Bay’. Metronomy play a sold out show tonight for us at the Royal Albert Hall. We couldn’t be more excited.
